CORUS 2007

12/03/2008 20:27

Corus 2007 finished in a three-way tie for first place.  The leaders after twelve rounds - Topalov and Radjabov - agreed a quick draw saying "Catch us if you can" .  The one player capable of doing this was the Armenian Aronian, and he duly succeeded by beating local player Tiviakov.  Kramnik also pulled out the stops to beat Loek van Wely and finished in fourth spot.  Magnus Carlsen and Alexei Shirov fought a hard battle in an attempt to get off the bottom of the table, but eventually had to agree to a draw.
